Depression is not something you can “just snap out of.”
Theories suggest that if the stressors in our lives overwhelm the coping skills we have learned, it may cause a chemical imbalance in our body. Like any other serious medical condition, depression needs to be treated.
Some recent Wall Street Journal research suggests that the combination of properly-managed medication and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy can resolve a biochemical depression in less than a year.
If you are depressed, the main symptoms won’t be feeling sad or being tearful frequently. The symptoms will be some combination of problems with energy, sleep, appetite, concentration, difficulty making decisions, increased anger, or not enjoying things the way you used to enjoy them.
If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, please, get some help for your sake and the sake of those who matter in your life. Just call 512-878-3452 to make an appointment or to discuss your options.
